without jon stewart, colbert isnt a household name. period. i like stephen colbert, but the only reason he has a job is because of jon stewart. actually, a lot of people got their start on the daily show. steve carrell for instance. ed helms has seen a recent rise to popularity, and he only got his start at the daily show a year or so ago.
not to mention that a terrifyingly large number of people actually rely on the daily show for news.
anyway, my original point, colbert is good, but he is the apprentice in this relationship.
